Globally renowned Rubber Scientist, Dr Zairossani bin Mohd Nor, has taken over as the Director General of the Malaysian Rubber Board (MRB) on 1st November 2017. Prior to his appointment, Dr Zairossani was the Deputy Director General (Research & Innovation), MRB since 2015.

Dr Zairossani has a chequered career in leading and managing research and development (R&D) programmes as well as technical support activities for the rubber industry. He is also presently leading several key national-level research and development programmes in the rubber industry, particularly in speciality rubber production and green rubber products technology.

He has more than 50 publications as well as 12 patents and trademarks to his credit. Dr Zairossani holds a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours from the University of Guelph, Canada. He obtained his Masters and PhD in Applied Science (Biochemical Engineering) from the University of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

He also holds a certificate in Executive Business Management from the Asian Institute of Management. He is currently the Chairman for ISO/TC 45 (Rubber and Rubber Products) and was elected to this post in May 2013. He has served as the Chairman of the ASEAN Consultative Committee on Standards and Conformity (ACCSQ) – Rubber Based Product Working Group (RBPWG) for the period 2011-2014.

Dr Zairossani has received various awards throughout his career among the key awards including the Rubber Asia’s Tan Sri BC Sekhar Gold Medal for Contribution and Leadership in Rubber Industry in 2015 and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) Gold Medal Award for the Overall Best Invention at the International Invention, Innovation, Industrial Design and Technology Exhibition (ITEX 2005).
