MICHELIN DEDICATES MOBILE MEDICAL UNIT IN CHENNAI, INDIA

Jean-Dominique Senard, Chief Executive Officer of the Michelin Group & President of the Executive Board of the Michelin Corporate Foundation and Alexandre Ziegler, Ambassador of France to India have together dedicated a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) to the communities around the Michelin plant near Chennai, India.

The Unit will be attended by a crew of Doctor, Nurse and Community health workers. It will provide basic diagnostic services and treatment to patients with acute and chronic diseases and is s equipped to screen patients for a range of diseases including hypertension, diabetes and anaemia.

Besides, the Unit will cover all thirty-one villages around the Michelin India plant in Thiruvallur District in Tamil Nadu. Managed by The Foundation for Rural Recovery and Development (FORRAD) and funded by Michelin Corporate Foundation, the MMU will operate from Monday to Saturday and will stop at each of the 12 designated stops for an entire day, twice a month. Each stop will cater to patients of the surrounding villages, providing healthcare access to 30,000 people, a statement from the company said.
