COOPER TIRE RELEASES GLOBAL SUSTAINABILITY REPORT

Cooper Tire and Rubber Company has released its fifth annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and Sustainability report titled ‘Responsibility the Cooper Way’.

In the report, the company claims that greenhouse gas emissions intensity from the company has decreased 12 per cent since 2009.

“Cooper’s sustainability initiatives include our efforts to improve the lives of our employees, our communities, and the world for future generations. This report details our progress in terms of environmental stewardship, employee health and safety, technology, innovation, and community support. We are making progress on these initiatives and will continue to report our performance to key stakeholders,” said Brad Hughes, Cooper’s President and Chief Executive Officer.

Report highlights

The company has reduced energy usage intensity by 18 per cent since 2009,
and usage intensity has declined year-over-year.

Cooper has reduced water usage intensity by seven per cent since 2009.

Cooper landfill usage intensity has decreased nearly 30 per cent since 2009.

Cooper has launched its first app, the Tread Wisely app, to put tire and vehicle safety information directly into the hands of young drivers.

Cooper produced passenger car tyres in which all natural and synthetic rubber is replaced with guayule rubber.

The Total Recordable Incident Rate in Cooper’s tire manufacturing plants worldwide has improved more than 70 per cent since 2007.
