Two bomb threats were reportedly made to Continental Tire the Americas' Mt. Vernon, III., tire manufacturing facility.
According to local reports, company officials have announced increased security measures after two threats – one on June 3 and another on June 6 – targeted the plant’s Mixing Department. Neither threat was found to be credible.
“We evacuated Mixing in both instances and contacted the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office and Secretary of State,” Continental stated in a news release.
Detectives are investigating possible suspects and Continental is offering a $5,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the threats.
