Mavis Discount Tire Announces STS Acquisition

Mavis Discount Tire has officially announced the acquisition of Bridgewater, N.J.–based Somerset Tire Service Inc.

After multiple sources told Tire Review the news in July, Mavis’ official announcement confirms one of the single largest acquisitions.

STS has 157 retail locations with 95 in New Jersey, 33 in Pennsylvania, 29 in New York and six wholesale locations operated as Banner Tire.

They’ve been our competitor for more than three decades and we admire their commitment to providing great customer service,” said David Sorbaro, co-CEO for Mavis. “We are very excited to welcome the STS team into the Mavis family and look forward to building on its great reputation to enhance a best-in-class tire retailer. Together, we will have 324 stores, nine wholesale locations and approximately 2,800 employees and we expect to grow all three areas significantly over the next several years.”

The deal makes Mavis the fourth largest independent tire dealer in the U.S.
