Goodyear and the London School of Economics and Political Science have launched a road safety research project, looking at the behavior of road users across Europe and their influence on each other.

The project, managed by LSE Consulting, is designed to contribute to the road safety debate in Europe offering new academic insights.

"Current road safety research is largely focused upon how drivers use their vehicles within a physical, as opposed to social, environment,” said Christ Tennant, who is leading the research at the LSE Department of Social Psychology.

The firms aim to analyze drivers’ interactions with, and attitudes towards, other drivers and the effect both have on risky driving. Olivier Rousseau—Goodyear vice president for Europe, Middle East and Africa—said the study has the potential to yield valuable insights and information into the road safety debate.

Goodyear previously conducted road-safety-focused surveys of novice drivers (2012), driving instructors (2013), and parents of novice drivers (2014) and published a white paper on the subject.
